Why Reload? People reload for three main reasons: You can make custom rounds that are tuned to your particular rifle or pistol. Reloaded cartridges will shrink your groups like you wouldn’t believe. Over the long run, it saves money. I emphasize over the long run. You’ll see the greatest savings through pistol rounds and match rifle rounds. It’s rewarding knowing that you built the rounds you are shooting, plus it’s a lot of fun tinkering with the rounds to get the best results. And you’ll learn a lot and make some good friends in the process.
The Basics
Let’s get down to business. The cartridge is made up of four (4) components: Bullet Primer Case Powder (propellant)

Both rifle and pistol rounds have these four components. No more, no less. The goal of reloading is to take these four components and come up with a good-as-new round that is more accurate and less expensive than the rounds you buy at the store.
